The King's Train

We just got back from having lunch with my sister and brother in law who live in Bartow. We don’t get together much, but always enjoy time together when we do.

They are well read in current events and how they relate to scripture. We have always talked about how the world is lining itself up just as scripture says for the rapture and second coming of Jesus.

It can be pretty scary, reading about all the stuff happening. Earthquakes and volcanoes are bad enough but rioting in the streets in Greece when people are actually killed because their country is in such a mess, etc. I guess in any place you can always find a bad story. But the other day I heard Dr. Mark Rutland talk about Isaiah 6:1, and again, I saw how relevant the bible is. In the year that king Uzziah died, the status quo was broken; the prosperity of the times was over. Isaiah said “In that year, I ALSO saw the Lord. He was high and lifted up and His train filled the temple.” Isaiah wasn’t in denial about what was going on in his world, but he ALSO saw the Lord who was resting on His throne. He was high and lifted up (above the chaos) and His train filled the temple. A king’s train in those days signified battles won. The fuller the train the more battles won. Our God’s train filled that temple. Perfect victory.

They are relevant and encouraging words for our time and we will do well to hide them in our hearts. We just may need them.
